When you use this

Move an already-bootstrapped kit tree to a newer kit version, checked against the key recorded in the tree at bootstrap. --check reports what an update would do and changes nothing, which is the form to use before an upgrade window rather than during one.

Usage

Emitted from the usage() block in kit/self-update.sh.

usage: self-update.sh [options]     (run it from inside a bootstrapped kit tree)

options
  --version      version to move to, vX.Y.Z (default: the 'latest' tag)
  --pubkey       override the pinned key    (default: .kit-source.pub in this tree)
  --registry     override the recorded registry
  --channel      override the recorded channel
  --check        report what an update would do; change nothing
  --insecure     registry TLS is self-signed (test rigs)
  --plain-http   registry is plain HTTP     (test rigs)
